It is hard to believe, but my time in Togo is about finished. It has been an extremely busy and I haven't gotten to post on here quite like I've liked. The team sent out a really good update last night, so I have copied and pasted it on to here.
"We are preparing to come home tomorrow. We have had a very uplifting and memorable trip. At Mission Tove we experienced authentic Togo food prepared by Pastor Daniel's wife, rice in a spicy chicken tomato sauce. We all enjoyed the meal and the picnic under the tree. Yesterday was a very cool morning for Togo. We (not me, but the other people of the team who worked mainly with children this trip) told the Parable of the Sower, made play dough on an open fire, made salvation bracelets, and did face painting. A drawing of a rainbow led to the telling of the story of Noah and Gsd's promise. We took advantage of teachable moments. The health classes went great with lots of poignant questions many villagers showed up to learn new health information and the Keyhole gardening technique. Some of us have had issues on the trip such as flooding the room and trying to unlock someone else's room only to have them open it for you.
Today we had a fashion show at the tailors, of the women in their new dresses (we didn't get one this year, but had fun watching everyone else try on their new beautiful apparel), Dennis (our leader) was not left out. He was forced to participate in men's clothing line. Afterwards we went to Legbassito medical clinic to see Justine and Christina. We had the great pleasure of delivering the 300 malaria test kits that our children from our ch.rch paid for. The nurses were more than grateful, since they see at least one individual daily for Malaria. Please be in pr@yer for a little boy who was at the clinic when we were there with Malaria. Ask for a recovery, it can be a deadly disease. The test kits will be life changing for these people, allowing medicine to be started earlier with greater recovery results. Janet did an amazing job teaching the nurses how to use the kits properly testing Pastor Daniel and Segun our translator, both thankfully were negative. :) In the afternoon we enjoyed shopping at the Artisan Village, where we spent a lot of CFA's and haggled for good deals. We had a great walk on the beach, we were allowed to put a toe in the water, due to the undertow. Then it was off to the Greenfield for dessert dinner consisting of crepes, ice cream (I had this), and dessert pizza (Mom had this), all was yummy.
Intercede for our journey home and those continuing on to South Asia (that is Mom and me).
Togo team"
So, this morning, we get on a plane and head back to South Asia. I've loved my time in Europe and Africa this vacation, but it is time to get back to South Asia and continue my work there. Thank you for lifting the team, my mom, and me as traveled and taught these sweet people here.
I'll probably update again when I am on a different continent…
